Welcome to Wild Women Wanderers' first trip to Slovenia. Are you looking for an adventure that combines hiking in beautiful places and making connections with like-minded adventurous women? Then this is the trip for you!

 

Slovenia is a hiker's paradise with lush forests, crystal-clear lakes, towering alpine peaks, and charming villages. During this trip, you’ll explore some of the country’s most scenic trails, taking in the beauty of the Julian Alps.

 

Each day promises a new experience, from conquering challenging mountain paths and exploring hidden gorges to soaking in the tranquillity of Slovenia’s pristine nature. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the warmth of Slovenian culture, savour local cuisine, and relax in cosy mountain huts, making this journey as enriching as it is
adventurous.

Hiking in Slovenia - Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Ljubljana

Arrive at Ljubljana Airport and transfer to your accommodation to settle in. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner, where we’ll get to know each other and discuss the exciting adventures awaiting us in the days ahead in this beautiful country! I wanted to take our first trip internationally to Slovenia for its beautiful scenery, amazing lakes and stunning mountains!  

 

Accommodation:  Twin-share in 4* Ribno Alpine Hotel (or similar)

Day 2 - Bohinj Lake

After a good night’s rest, we’ll kick off our first activity day by exploring the beautiful surroundings of Bohinj Lake. 

Begin with a warm-up hike to the stunning Savica Waterfall, a 3-hour journey that takes you through lush forest trails to one of Slovenia’s most famous natural landmarks. Afterwards, we’ll continue with a 3-hour loop tour around Bohinj Lake, soaking in the serene beauty of its crystal-clear waters and picturesque alpine backdrop. It’s the perfect start to our adventure-filled week.

 

Hikes: 11km moderate hike taking around 3 hours, followed by a 10km easy hike taking around 3 hours

Day 3 - Vogel 

Today, we’ll take a cable car ride up to Vogel, one of Slovenia’s most scenic spots.  Overlooking the breathtaking Lake Bohinj, Vogel is not only a top ski resort but also a paradise for hikers in the summer. Once at the top, we’ll explore the area on a more challenging 11km loop trail, taking in panoramic views of Lake Bohinj and the majestic Alps.

 

Hikes:  10.8km challenging route taking around 4.5 hours to complete

Meals:  Breakfast & Lunch

Day 4 -  Triglav Lakes

The Valley of the Triglav Lakes, also known as the Seven Lakes Valley, is one of the most celebrated areas in the Julian Alps, cherished by mountaineers since the early days of exploration. Protected as part of Triglav National Park since 1924, the valley is a treasure trove of diverse terrain, fascinating flora and fauna, fossils, and Alpine wildlife. It’s also renowned for its impressive karst formations.

Today, we’ll tackle a challenging entire loop trail around all seven lakes in the stunning Valley of the Triglav Lakes*. This hike offers breathtaking views, diverse terrain, and an unforgettable journey through one of the Julian Alps’ most iconic landscapes.

 

Hikes: 22km (maximum) challenging hike taking around 10 hours to complete *The length and duration can be amended to suit the group’s preferences and abilities as needed

Day 5 - Lake Bled

Lake Bled, with its crystal-clear waters, charming island, and stunning mountain backdrop, is a picture-perfect destination. Today, we’ll enjoy a leisurely 5.5 km loop trail near Bled in Triglav National Park. Along the way, we’ll explore the stunning Vintgar Gorge with its crystal-clear waters and wooden walkways, as well as the charming St. Catherine Church, all set against the backdrop of impressive alpine landscapes.

 

At the end of the hike, you’ll have the option to visit Bled Castle, perched dramatically above the lake, or enjoy a leisurely boat tour on the tranquil waters of Lake Bled —whichever suits your preference for wrapping up the day.

Hikes: Easy 5.5km trail taking around 1 hour

Day 6 - Vrsic Pass

Today, we journey to Vršič Pass, the highest road pass in Slovenia, which Russian war prisoners built during World War I. Winding through the heart of the Julian Alps, the road offers spectacular views that invite us to pause and take in the scenery. Our hike begins at the pass and takes us to the summit of Mount Mala Mojstrovka (2,332 m/7,650ft), one of the most accessible and popular 2,000-meter peaks in the central Julian Alps.  

 

Along the way, we’ll be treated to breathtaking views of alpine peaks and a stunning perspective of the emerald-green Soča River Valley below, showcasing its full beauty.

Hikes: Challenging 4.8km hike to the summit of Mount Mala taking around 4 hours to complete.

Day 7 - Departure

Transfer to Lujubljana airport for Departure.
